Red cabbage steak on sweet potato mash

The red cabbage is baked in the oven, slowly braising itself into a steak, as if it wanted to show everyone what it's made of. The sweet potato mash waits beside it, soft and creamy, as if whispering, "Go easy, I'll catch you." Kitty peers into the oven, shakes her head and laughs, and thinks: I just wanted vegetables—now I have a two-act drama here.
